On June 3rd, in Milan, The Merchant of Venice celebrated the launch of Renaissance, the new olfactory creation by Calice Becker, one of the most acclaimed and refined voices in contemporary perfumery.

Inspired by Renaissance beauty and its ideals of harmony, symmetry and balance, Renaissance translates into fragrance the spirit of an age in which art became an expression of the individual and beauty was elevated to a universal language.

The event offered the opportunity to unveil the creative and cultural vision behind this new creation through the words of Marco Vidal, CEO of The Merchant of Venice, Maurizio Volpi, Head of Beauty & Fragrance at Givaudan, and Francesca Sideri, Senior Key Account Manager at Givaudan, who shared their perspectives on the artistic, olfactory and emotional journey that brought Renaissance to life.

The fragrance opens with a spicy green brightness, where the resinous freshness of galbanum meets the precious warmth of saffron. Its heart reveals a deep, delicately powdery elegance, led by iris and violet and softened by an unexpected note of bitter orange. In the base, leather and patchouli intertwine with akigalawood, creating a woody, subtly smoky signature, while musk and vanilla lend softness and persistence.

Both luminous and shadowed, floral and leathery, Renaissance is a fragrance built on contrast. A tribute to beauty as perfect balance, and to artistic perfumery as a timeless form of art.
